Vital Equine Bodywork

Helping your horse move and feel better!

The goal of Vital Equine Bodywork is to help your horse be their absolute best.  Equine Structural Integration  is a hands on therapeutic modality.  A series of five sessions is provided to address your horses’s fascia aka: connective tissue.  Over a horse’s life fascia is affected by aging, injury and postural imbalances.  The Equine Natural Movement Series sequentially unwraps the fascia by working deeper through the layers, freeing tissues that have been shortened, adhered and in turn have compromised mobility.  The result of the series is that your horse experiences decreased tension and pain and improved range of motion, balance and strength.  Your horse becomes more supple in their body and calmer in their mind as overall wellbeing is improved.  Your horse’s natural rhythm and balance are restored.  It is not unusual to see immediate improvements in movement and performance.  You will likely continue to see improvements in the months following the completion of the series.  Structural Integration is different than massage in that it re-aligns the horse and has lasting affects.

Custom Bodywork Session

Each horse is an individual. Sessions are adjusted to the horse’s tolerance and needs. Addresses fascial adhesions, relieves tension and improves mobility. Structural Integration Session Fee: $110

Equine Therapeutic Exercise

Vanessa is happy to offer a therapeutic exercise program for your horse. Frequent postural exercises performed with your horse are very beneficial for good core activation and a strong back. Vanessa has a background in Physical Therapy and believes incorporating routine exercises for the ridden horse that address balance and posture are essential. They support the bodywork and assist with improved movement patterns and decrease potential of injury. Add a Core Physio session to a Bodywork session: Inquire for details.

Travel

Traveling outside of Whatcom County is available. Travel fee may apply. Travel fee may be waived for groups. Please inquire if you are interested in hosting a group for a day long clinic.

Vanessa Omer, CESIP, LAMT, PTA

Vanessa was born and raised in the interior of Alaska. It was there she realized her connection to nature and all living beings. Horses became a passion at a young age. Cantering through fields on long summer days she experienced the freedom and joy that horses can bring and is honored to in turn provide therapy for the noble creature that is the horse.  Vanessa enjoys gentle training methods, dressage and trail riding.  She lives on 5 acres in Ferndale, Washington with her husband and two horses.

“Vanessa is so talented. My 3 yo mustang has been really tight in his hind end and along his crest/neck and Vanessa's touch really helped loosen him up. He fought it at first (being a wild guy for the first 2 years of his life) but was practically drooling by the end. I can't wait to have her work on him again - and I know he feels the same way :)”

“I’ve had Vanessa work on my stocky Appy, Orion, twice now. He had tight pectorals and really benefited from her touch. When we rode the next day, his transitions were incredibly smooth and he felt very relaxed. After the second session, he hung around the barn to watch some other horses. It was as though he wanted to see the change, too! I highly recommend Vanessa. She’s on my calendar for a long time.”

"I took on a mustang a couple years ago, and he was a structural mess. Tight muscles everywhere, but most noticeably, his chest was so pinched that it looked like both front legs came out of the same hole. I didn't know if it was conformation or posture at that point to cause that stance. In one session with Vanessa, his pectorals released so much his stance widened to a normal amount, and has never gone back to what he was like at first. His soundness and movement improved considerably. Over the course of a few more sessions, the rest of his muscles relaxed, and he looks like a different horse. Vanessa has also tremendously  helped a couple other horses I took on to rehab - an over-cowboyed Quarter Horse and a former Arabian show horse. Both have physically transformed under her care."

Highly recommend Vanessa after just two sessions Moose has improved so much! He always has had issues with his back going out so chiropractor work has been apart of his existence but since having Vanessa work on him he’s moving better than ever! He’s had stiffness in his back end, making him resistant to giving his back feet to anyone but this last farrier appointment he gave them so much easier. He has three more sessions to go ❤️ excited to see the old man really be able to move and not be constricted anymore ❤️

Just wanted to share how much Vanessa helped my horse Rupert. My farrier noticed it first. He was having a hard time lifting his hind feet to trim. As I paid more attention I noticed when standing he was shifting his hind from side to side. Vanessa did 3 sessions on him. I really noticed after session 3 how much better he was doing. Farrier came out today, Rupert is back to his old self. Thank you Vanessa! You are amazing!

I have to let you know Amari has never felt better in the five years I have owned her. For a 25 year old after 4 treatments she had the most amazing ride today. I have never really been able to get her to gallop. I didn’t try it today she just took off in a gallop on her first ride after treatment. She has never felt better. I was shocked. She is usually a slow poke today she was in the lead and so happy. Thank you so much for giving my horse such a joyful life. I still am in amazement at how it has changed her body so much she is like a young filly instead of a 25 year old.
